Lots of developments in the pipeline for downtown SB! 1913-1921 State Street, which is currently made up of medical suites near the corner of State and Mission (pictured at right), is slated to become a 73-unit hotel. Tenants have existing leases and options to renew so this project has the potential to take many years.

Just down the street at the Cantwell's property at 1533 State Street, owners are proposing a 27 unit residential development - but don't worry Cantwell's will remain.

In the Funk Zone, three major developments are in the works: story poles are up noting the location of the three-story 250 room "Garden Street Hotel" at the corner of Yanonali and Garden; 35 Anacapa Street is slated for a 12 hotel room development + various commercial; and of course the Somo Funk Mixed-Use development between Yanonali & Mason and Gray & Santa Barbara Streets in the heart of the Funk Zone, which is said to include 142 apartments, 13 condos and will vary from one story to four stories.
