Diet Starts Monday

As always, a flurry (get it?) of restaurant openings and closings have occurred over the past month. Flor de Maiz, Carlos Luna of Los Agaves’ newest venture, opened next door to Oku on Cabrillo Blvd in the former El Torito building. Breakfast Culture Club, the hip coffee shop and art gallery has a new owner and will open again soon – the owner may or may not be related to the new Mesa Taproom, Lighthouse Coffee, Mesa Burger, etc, etc, etc. Yume Sushi took over the Bar29 location on the corner of Chapala and Anapamu. If you’re sick of egg nog and fruit cake and want to get rid of your resting Grinch face (sorry) get over to Dave’s Dogs new location on Milpas for a Mac N Cheese or bacon hot dog. You snow the drill (last one) and not all news is good news, so unfortunately, Empty Bowl's Montecito outpost, Khao Kang, has closed, but their location in the Public Market is still open and busy as always.
