Retail + Restaurant Update

Athleta (pronounced Ath-letta) is the first national retailer to sign a lease on State Street in over 15 months. The activewear brand is opening on the 700 block in the former Miniso location in the Balboa Building just outside Paseo Nuevo. Inside Paseo Nuevo, local women’s boutique Dylan Star moved to a bigger and better space within the mall...and there goes my paycheck.

A couple beach front restaurants are closer to reopening with Reunion Kitchen + Drink opening this fall in the Cabrillo Arts building and the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors approving a lease with hospitality group PRJKT to open Sea Legs at the Beach in the former Beachside Cafe location at Goleta Beach. Low Pigeon Coffee Roasters looks close to opening on Anacapa Street across from La Paloma and Old Town Coffee joined Draughtsmen Aleworks and Buena Onda at Mosaic Locale on the 1100 block of State. Pali's Wine Garden is opening soon in the former Oreana building and rumor has it a new brewery will be open catty corner to it, but that’s for next time.
