Something Sweet

Alessia Patisserie + Cafe officially opened this week at 134 E Canon Perdido St, next to Handlebar Coffee! It's been a long time coming for owner Alessia Guehr (pictured at left) former manager of The Nook in the Funk Zone and maker of some of the most amazing creations we've ever seen. She's open for breakfast and lunch, and you can't go wrong with her menu. You're welcome for making your weekend breakfast plans:)

In other bakery news, Jeannine's is opening at 1 State Street, the corner of Cabrillo Blvd and State Street where Eladios, Due Lune and State Street once were. Hook & Press Donuts is taking over the former Jeannine's on Figueroa Street and plans to offer a more expansive menu, including coffee and other breakfast items, when they open this fall. The Courthouse Tavern, brought to you by Warren Butler, looks close to opening, while the Mackenzie Market property on upper State Street just sold to the owner of Omni Catering - TBD on what's to come there.
